What is happening in South Jersey this weekend? 5 local stops for August 21 and 22
Free movies, live music, Winslow Family Day and a major Women’s Equality Day festival are on the South Jersey calendar this weekend.

South Jersey has a solid mix of free, family-friendly events this weekend, and several of the best options are being run by counties, municipalities and local nonprofit organizations.
We checked the current Camden County and Gloucester County calendars, along with the Alice Paul Center for Gender Justice, for events happening Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22.
Here are five worth knowing about before you make weekend plans.
Friday night: Movies with Metro in Camden
Camden County has a free outdoor movie scheduled Friday evening as part of its Movies with Metro series. Zootopia is listed for August 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The county describes the series as family-friendly movie nights in Camden City parks. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and check the county event page before leaving in case weather changes the schedule.
Friday night: The Bad Guys 2 in Pitman
Gloucester County is also running a free movie Friday night. The Bad Guys 2 is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Pitman as part of the county's Movies in the Park series.
This is a good option if you want a simple family night out without buying tickets. Gloucester County lists the event on its official parks and recreation calendar.
Saturday afternoon: Winslow Family Day
Winslow Township Family Day returns Saturday, August 22 at New Brooklyn Park in Sicklerville.
The township and Camden County both list the event from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with local vendors, activities and community programming for all ages. The address listed by Camden County is 123 New Brooklyn Erial Road.
This is one of the larger community gatherings on the local calendar this weekend and a good choice for families who want to stay close to home.
Saturday afternoon: free live music in Deptford
Gloucester County's 2026 concert series continues Saturday with Poor Mouth Henry at Deptford Memorial Park.
The county lists the concert for 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and says it will be held rain or shine. The South Jersey band plays a mix of classic rock, country rock, country and blues.
Admission is free.
Saturday: Women’s Equality Day Festival at Paulsdale
One of the more distinctive events this weekend is the Women’s Equality Day Festival at historic Paulsdale in Mount Laurel, the birthplace of Alice Paul.
The Alice Paul Center for Gender Justice lists the festival for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Admission is free.
The current program includes live performances, food, activities for families, community organizations, women-owned businesses and presentations tied to New Jersey history and civic life.
Parking for the festival is at the Mount Laurel Community Center, 100 Mount Laurel Road, with a free shuttle to Paulsdale. The center says only limited accessible parking is available directly at Paulsdale.
A quick note before you go
Outdoor events can move or change because of weather. Check the organizer's current page before making a special trip, especially for the two outdoor movie events.
Watchdog takeaway: This weekend does not require a drive to the Shore or Philadelphia to find something to do. Camden, Pitman, Sicklerville, Deptford and Mount Laurel all have community events on the calendar, and every event on this list is free.
